Since 2010
For close to 10 years, we've been working with orphan and underprivileged children in Ethiopia
Experience
From the USA, Romania, and Ethiopia, our team has cross-cultural education experience.
Path Forward
Many of these children have a bleak future, but there is hope and a way forward.
Our History
Our co-founders were instrumental in the expansion of a school project in the Ziway / Adami Tulu area. In 2010, they helped to form Ziway + Adami Tulu Project, recruiting a group of team leaders in the US to raise the funds necessary to expand one of the school sites from 70 to 210 students. They raised over $40,000 to build the new building with four classrooms, new restroom facilities, and a security fence around the Adami Tulu property.
After the project’s completion in August 2011, much of the team traveled to Adami Tulu to put the finishing touches on the building and plan for next steps. The result was a three year plan to build out the school site to a capacity of about 500 students, covering Nursery, Lower Kindergarten, Upper Kindergarten, and first through fourth grades.
In 2011, the team raised $220,000 to expand the other campuses as well. In time for the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year, a four-classroom building was constructed at the Adami Tulu campus, along with a two-story, eight-classroom building at the Ziway Primary campus.
The current total enrollment is around 1200 students. Students like the ones graduating from the schools in Ziway + Adami Tulu need employment opportunities and business skills. That’s where Hope Takes Root comes in…

Our Project Consists of 2 Parts
Part One
The Business
We will hire professional Ethiopian software developers and create a sustainable for-profit business, providing software solutions for Ethiopian businesses. We strive to be on the forefront of the Ethiopian tech sector.
Part Two
The Program
We will hire orphans and under-privileged youth as student workers. They will receive fair pay and on-the-job training in IT, software development, business skills, and life mentorship. At the end of their time in the program, they will have real-life experience and a resume, ensuring they are equipped to be excellent employees.
